Yes, it's Halloween. I didn't dress up last year, but this year I decided to break out the old and easy Star Trek costume. The only thing that requires any work in this costume is the pointy ears. They're pretty quick to apply, and off I go. The only bad thing about going as a red shirt Star Trek girl to teach junior high is that some of my students had no idea who or what I was. Don't they ever watch movies? Live long and prosper!!

This is what I wore today. These Boden pants look red here, but they are actually what Crayola crayon used to call red-orange, or maybe even orange-red. Anyway, they are a beautiful, saturated orange color. I'm loving them with the paisley shirt (the picture is very washed out, it's actually the gorgeous print below). I am so in love with this jean jacket that I dyed cobalt blue this summer. It looked amazing with this outfit -- I got many compliments today.

Today is the infamous hump day for me - the middle of the week and a three hour night class. That should be illegal, shouldn't it? Anyway I am fighting back against the hump with some bright colors. This skirt is mint, but it always looks kind of turquoise on my screen. Try to imagine it with a bit of a green tint. It's a lovely, icy color, I think.

Today felt like a good day to go powerful with black, white and red. I kept it simple with no necklace, but I did add some black and silver earrings.

Today was a busy day. I am trying to finish my self evaluation for my teaching job. The state has new evaluations this year, and to say that they are time consuming is putting it lightly. Today was also Megan's birthday, so I put in some time running around getting things for her. We went up to SLC to see the Salty Dinner Theater's productions of Little Orphan Annie...with Zombies! I thought it had its moments of entertainment. Then we came home and had presents with Megan. Hopefully she liked what we got her, because she pretty much picked it out.
As far as outfits go, this was a home run for me. I took the pictures of the cardigan and tee, so they aren't quite as vibrant as they are in real life. Trust me, this outfit looked amazing.

I was originally only wearing this lace top with this skirt, but it was so cold in the chapel that I had to run home and grab this jacket. This jacket is one that I dyed from beige to green earlier this year. It came out pretty awesome, didn't it? Anyway, today was the Primary program practice which is always insane, but I lived through it.

Today I was fully planning to wear this outfit to the left, copying an outfit idea from J's Everyday Fashion (minus the ripped jeans, which just don't fly at school). The problem was that I don't have a cute black and white graphic tee like hers. I thought that this paisley tee would work, but, no, alas, it did not. So I toned this outfit down and went with a simple navy cardigan and orange shoes to match the orange in the shirt. Today was a busy day, with a trip up to SLC to eat dinner with two old friends from high school and then a trip down to Provo to watch my brother's band perform at The Muse, a music café. Fun times for all. Oh, and today was the last day of the term, but I stayed late at school yesterday putting in grades, so that was already done.

Today was a busy day. We had students from Japan at our school, and my students were just fascinated by the whole idea. I also had visitors from Russia observing my teaching in my beginning ELD class. Fun, Fun, Fun!!
A crazy day like today calls for professional wear that is also extremely comfortable. This is probably the most comfortable pencil skirt I've even worn, and this long Chicos ponte jacket is also very relaxed (my version would be nearly perfect if it had pockets like the one shown here). I added a purple sweater to match the purple in the skirt and some turquoise accessories. Have I mentioned that I love this skirt? It's an awesome skirt!!

There has been a touch of stomach flu running through our family and my school. My sleep has been a little interrupted in addition to worrying about a huge assignment due today in my TELL class. Anyway, all that is done with, and hopefully I won't get the flu.
I went with this simple outfit today.
Platinum Demin Jeans in Dark Rinse, Chicos; Roll Neck Weekender Sweater in Parrot Green, Talbots; Plaid Scarf, Coldwater Creek; Jewelry, Macy's.

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Today I went with comfort, wearing burgundy boyfriend cords and a comfortable plaid shirt. The necklace in this polyvore actually looks a little different than it does now, seen below, because I painted all the the gray stones a bright blue using fingernail polish -- I like it much better now. This wasn't the best outfit to wear for a trip to the dermatologist (too many buttons for a situation that required removing a shirt), but I am happy I got all my moles checked out.

Monday, October 20, 2014

Today was a professional development day. That calls for very casual wear that's good for long periods of sitting. This outfit fit the bill and still looked pretty good.

Sunday, October 19, 2014

This is what I wore to church. The stripe on this shirt is actually a bit more navy, making the overall look pretty harmonious -- perfect for singing in the choir.
Paisley Pencil Skirt, J.Crew; St. James Galathee 3/4 Sleeve Stripe Tee in Navy/Persimmon, Jewelry, J.Crew.

Friday, October 17, 2014

This is what I wore on a very lazy day around the house. I firmly believe in taking it easy as much as possible on break days. This plaid shirt is what I ended up using my last Banana Republic $10 credit on. The fit isn't amazing, but the color is good and it's comfy and warm, and hey, it was only $5.

Thursday, October 16, 2014

This is what I wore for a day of relaxing around the house and enjoying my first day of fall break. Of course, yesterday it was 80 degrees, and today it is much cooler. I was a little cold outside in this.

Wednesday, October 15, 2014

I think blue might just be the most versatile color. Is there anything it doesn't look good with? I mean, it's classic with red, smashing with orange, cool with purple, perfect with green, and even awesome with yellow. Blue and black is a striking combo, and blue and white is porcelain perfect.
Well, the reason I'm waxing on so about blue is that I so so so SO love these cobalt blue jeans. I love the way they look and fit -- it's just pure love. Today I was copying a look I recently found online. Instead of the pumps, I went with my classic oxfords that I painted black this summer.
True story: today one of my students asked me how old I was. I told them that I was fifty, and he said that I looked more like I was thirty. Ha. I told him it was good jeans. (Get, it? It's a pun.) Ha.

Only one more day to fall break...only one more day to fall break...
Patricia Anna Decker Malan Frost
Today I wore these comfortable glen plaid pants with a top that I dyed. The top originally looked like the one here at the top, but the stripes were not white, but ecru, and the pink on the top was a little insipid -- it just didn't pop. So . . . I dyed it hot pink. The pink stripes dyed a little darker, so it looks shadow striped now and definitely pink -- the shade here in the polyvore. I like it much better now. I added the large glen plaid graphic to the polyvore so that you can see that although the pants look gray in the photo, in real life they look white and black (at least to me, and isn't that who I'm dressing for?).
I've also been thinking a lot today about my beloved Aunt Pat, who died on Saturday. She was one of the funniest, kindest, and most talented people I know. She had dementia, so I am trying to imagine her free in heaven to once more enjoy all the things she loved to do -- and believe me, there were a lot. She could do anything. A lot of people used to think that I looked like her which is quite a compliment as she was obviously a beautiful woman!

Monday, October 13, 2014

Today I went with this rather crazy combination. In retrospect, I'll probably make sure I have a jacket with this if I try it again. Ha.

Bling Collecting

This jewelry set I'm particularly fond of. I first bought the green jade necklace and the bracelet on eBay about three years ago for about $15. The green stones are real jade, but the turquoise is just plastic cabochons. A year ago I found the earrings for $5, and then this summer I found the bib necklace for $15. I love this set together!

Sunday, October 12, 2014

This is what I wore to church. I love blue with green, and I felt like the super bright top counterbalanced the definitely not type 4 skirt (which I love to death even though it isn't type four). I really like this cobalt jacket that I picked up earlier this year at a very good price from Macy's. I actually wasn't originally planning on wearing it, but the temperature dropped dramatically today, and I felt like it was necessary!!

Friday, October 10, 2014

Today I went with lime and mint -- two things that may not exactly be my colors, but which look so cool and refreshing together. This mint stripe shirt looks a little dingy in this shot, but in real life, it is so vibrant -- almost neon mint, if there is such a thing.
I also found out that I've been accepted to present at the UCTE conference in November. The discouraging thing is that my school is not paying for me to go (although I get a discount). Sometimes I feel a little unappreciated at that school -- as if they have no idea that I've done extensive training in teaching writing. Ah well.

Thursday, October 9, 2014

I'll not deny that I was pretty bone tired after two straight days of parent teacher conference. I think I'll only attend one day or part of two days next time -- I just found out that I have that option.
Anyway, this is what I wore.

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

I know it's more fun sometimes to see people actually wearing the clothes, but I've been at student led conferences (our school's version of parent teacher conferences) all week, and I can sit at my desk and make polyvores and post my outfits while I wait for students to show up. I don't see that many of my students (the language barrier makes school uncomfortable for some parents), so it's good to have something to do. Once again, I was going for a professional look and comfort.

Tuesday, October 7, 2014

Today we are having student led conferences at our school. I'm trying to wear something comfortable, professional and fun. Did this work?

Monday, October 6, 2014

I had a lot of fun over the weekend putting my clothes on Polyvore and making sets -- it filled the creative itch that I used to get from designing the yearbook. So, here is what I am wearing today!
Toothpick Jean in Garment-Dyed Twill in Golden Sunflower, J.Crew; Jean Jacket in Cobalt, Talbots; Merona V Neck Striped Tee in Black/White, Target; Jewelry, J. Crew Factory and Chicos (I am wearing rhinestone hoop earrings).

Sunday, October 5, 2014

I love General Conference weekend. Life is so relaxed, and there is always a talk or two that I really love. President Uchtdorf is always my favorite, and I really loved President/Elder Holland's talk, too. (I still think of him as president from back in my BYU days.) My mom and dad were in town for a mission reunion, so I dressed up a little more than I usually do to watch -- my Loft mitered maxi skirt and one of my dyed green tees. I added the earrings that the BHW gave me for my birthday -- I didn't have the heart to tell him that he'd already bought me the same pair a few years ago. Ha.
Origami Neck Tee in Kelly/Apple Green, Talbots; Mitered Maxi in Navy/White, Loft; Harry Mason Earrings, Gift from the always amazing BHW.

Friday, October 3, 2014

I had sworn off all Talbots things, but then I saw this stripe tee for $7, and I couldn't resist. The navy and the cobalt are such a great color combination. I just added simple earrings with this because it's Friday.

Thursday October 2, 2014

Today was the first time I wore these jeans that I dyed from light khaki to orange. They actually looked pretty darn good with this J.Crew Factory sweatshirt. I added this lovely pambil necklace because it just doesn't get enough wear.

Wednesday, October 1, 2014

I have to wear something very comfortable on this day because I have such a long day -- a three hour night class. I also went to the ophthalmologist with the kids -- making for an even longer day. This sweater with cobalt jeans and a single bracelet for bling fit the bill nicely.
