Summer Wear

So I've been trying not to spend the whole summer in yoga pants and a tee shirt.

September 21 - 27, 2015

I couldn't even really think about clothes this week because I was so obsessed with the Volkswagon Beetle Convertible the BHW bought me for my birthday. It just makes me happy when I come out from work and see this car.

May 25-31, 2015

All I can say is school is out!! It was a rough few ending weeks. I am glad to be finished with all of it for the summer.

Thursday, October 16, 2014

This is what I wore for a day of relaxing around the house and enjoying my first day of fall break. Of course, yesterday it was 80 degrees, and today it is much cooler. I was a little cold outside in this.

June 16-20, 2014

I've noticed that I tend to gravitate to pink, blue, green and orange in the summer (and red, too, but not as much, surprisingly). Many of these items (the blue crops, the pink button-up, the pink tee, the green shorts, the black shorts, and the green tee) are items I recently dyed. Fun stuff.

June 9-13, 2014

Here's another week worth of tees, light sweaters and shorts.
About the two striped shirts -- I know the blue floral one isn't truly DYT 4, but it is fun, and isn't that what summer is all about?
The orange one on the top used to have small white and orange stripes and white lace, but I dyed the whole thing orange. I like it better with the monochrome look.
I got the navy and white shorts (I need new white shorts every year -- I am hard on white) from J. Crew Factory for $17. The red shorts came from Macy's for $14, and the cobalt ones came from Loft for $25. I am set for shorts for the summer. I already had the black ones.

June 2-6, 2014 -- A Week of Casual Type 4

I am a teacher, and summer means very casual days around the house for me for the most part. Here's what I wore for my first week around the house. No black, it's just not a summer color for me.

Monday: Neon Rose Bermuda Shorts (it's not obvious from the picture, but they are fluorescent orange) from J. Crew Factory; Eyelet-Front Top in Wild Strawberry, J. Crew Factory; Jewelry, Chicos.

Tuesday: Riviera Shorts with 10 Inch Inseam in Bright Winter Blue, Loft; St. James Galathee Tee in Kelly/Indigo, J. Crew.

Wednesday: Bermuda Shorts in Flame, Talbots; Tee in Cobalt Blue, Talbots, Jewelry, Harry Mason, Gift from the BHW.

Thursday: Bermuda Shorts in Home-Dyed Purple, Talbots; Factory Garment-Dyed Sweatshirt; J. Crew Factory; Jewelry, Chicos.

Friday: Bermuda Shorts in Plum Purple, Talbots; Stripe Linen Sweater in Indigo/Raspberry, Talbots.

This outfit was nothing special, but I did want to highlight my new necklace. I've had the earrings and bracelet for a while and just recently picked up the matching necklace on eBay. It almost feels like Spring out there...

Thursday, July 4, 2013

Today was the 4th of July, so of course we began our celebration with our traditional breakfast--yummy healthy pancakes with real whipped cream, strawberries, and blueberries for topping, savory gourmet scrambled eggs with onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms, orange juice, and, the pièce de résistance, bacon. We only have bacon twice a year: 4th of July and Christmas. This tradition started back in the days when we would get up very early and go over and watch the hot air balloons lift off, or sometimes we would participate in the 5k and the fun run, too, all of which are a part of Provo's big Freedom Festival. After running or watching the balloons, it would be midmorning, and we'd all be starving. We'd rush home and make a big, yummy breakfast. Over the years we've dropped the balloons and the run, but we've kept the breakfast. ;^)
That evening we went to see Kelly Clarkson, Carly Rae Jepson, and Cirque du Soleil perform as part of the Stadium of Fire. The acts were all very good, and the fireworks were amazing. Patty Davis was the MC, and she performed a very moving rendition of "Lean on Me." After the fireworks, we went over and joined the street dance for a while as we waited for traffic to die down.
I wore a very simple but festive outfit using a patriotic sweater I've had for probably about 15-20 years. Since I really only wear it on the 4th, it still looks brand new.

After spending the morning altering these shorts and the Talbots Shoreline Stripe Skirt in Blue, I wore them to celebrate.

I really like this shirt. I got it in a size small because it's a little blousy.

Here's what I wore for yet another day of lounging around the house without the company of the BHW.

T-shirt and shorts again. I've had this necklace and jewelry for a very long time and hadn't worn it for forever. Every single person I saw today mentioned how cute it was. I guess I should wear it more often.

Once again, short and t-shirt.

Now that I'm back to normal summer weather, I'm back to normal summer clothes, i.e., t-shirts and shorts.

I picked this cardigan and top up from Talbots because I loved the colors--it looks like a Monet painting. I got the short sleeved henley top first, then went on a quest to find the cashmere sweater to match. It took some lurking, but I finally found it. Of course, it's too hot to wear the cardigan now, but at some point I'll wear them together, I'm sure. I loved how they looked together on the models. Now, the top is just made out of polyester, so I had to sew the buttons closed because the material was so slippery that they just popped open -- all the time. I had to size down to an XS petite in this top, too, because it was cut very generously. I am pleased with my purchase.

Saturday, June 16, 2012

I spent part of the morning altering these shorts so I could wear them and the rest of the day wearing them. This peacock shirt is a favorite bargain pick up from last year.

Friday, June 15. 2012

Today I wore these new shorts with a very old shirt. It was a very kicked back day around the Tyler house.

A casual outfit for hanging around the house. And of course, everyday is fantastic when you have flowers on your toes.
