After viewing this outfit on
Polyvore the other day, I am attempting to recreate it here. I think this would have been a little better for me if my shirt had had a really big dark pattern like the original, but it still turned out okay. It has been a long time since I wore this jewelry. I thought I'd give it some love again.

I hadn't tried this particular combination together before, and I really like how it turned out. I am finding that I am really getting a lot of bang for my buck with these fan fringe necklaces -- the pink and orange matched the flowers on the skirt.

Updating my Jewelry Storage

I picked up this holder on Etsy, mainly to hold my rainbow of earrings. It's been nice to get everything out of the jumble in the armoire. (It's not hanging crooked; it's just the way I was holding my camera.)

This combination was a last minute grab. I've been awfully busy in the mornings lately. I've decided to redo my office, and I spent all morning perusing Ikea. This left me with precious little time for getting ready. I went with a navy ikat cardigan sweater over a navy tank with tan pants and a bit of bright in the green necklace.

With the weather as changeable as it is lately, I'm going with spring colors and warmth at the same time. I added this crochet topper over the pink tee, and it turned out to be a good choice, as it was pretty nippy today. This sweater comes from Eddie Bauer, and when I first got it, I didn't wear it very often because it looked weird buttoned (because of gaping) and unbuttoned. I solved the problem by actually sewing the placket closed. Now it is technically a sweater rather than a cardigan.

Sundays are always quick dressing days for me now that we have the nine AM church. This was quick and easy for me to throw on, so that's what I went with. All of these things are as old as the hills AND the valleys.

This fun outfit is in honor of National Poem in my Pocket Day. I had to have something with pockets so I could carry my poem with me all day and pull it out to share with students, etc., and this Talbots skirt fit the bill nicely. I thought it looked smashing with my new dot linen Sweater from J. Crew.

And here is my poem for poem in my pocket day:

Forgetfulness by Billy Collins

The name of the author is the first to go
followed obediently by the title, the plot,
the heartbreaking conclusion, the entire novel
which suddenly becomes one you have never read,
even heard of,

as if, one by one, the memories you used to harbor
decided to retire to the southern hemisphere of the brain,
to a little fishing village where there are no phones.

Long ago you kissed the names of the nine Muses goodbye
and watched the quadratic equation pack its bag,
and even now as you memorize the order of the planets,

something else is slipping away, a state flower perhaps,
the address of an uncle, the capital of Paraguay.

Whatever it is you are struggling to remember
it is not poised on the tip of your tongue,
not even lurking in some obscure corner of your spleen.

It has floated away down a dark mythological river
whose name begins with an L as far as you can recall,
well on your own way to oblivion where you will join those
who have even forgotten how to swim and how to ride a bicycle.

No wonder you rise in the middle of the night
to look up the date of a famous battle in a book on war.
No wonder the moon in the window seems to have drifted
out of a love poem that you used to know by heart.

I was going to wear something else today, but at the last minute I decided on this. The striped skirt I was going to wear doesn't play very nice with tights, and today was one of the 30 degree type of spring days that is FREEZING COLD. There was a very icy wind blowing that kept everything very chilly.

(I hadn't noticed until today that this Margaret Annie print has a lot of mint -- I'll have to try it with my mint pencil skirt.)

Thanks to this inspiration
photo to the right, I've been meaning to wear mustard with tweed all year. I didn't quite make it to the tweed today, but went with this gray flannel skirt (that has the most adorable kick ruffle in the back) instead. For school I went with the pambil necklace look, but when I put myself together again for the quick evening trip to the Eagle Board of Review for son # 2 (yeah! he passed and will soon have his Eagle Scout Award -- much thanks to me, his # 1 volunteer), I went with this fun peacock scarf instead, just for the comfy cuteness. Hmm...can you say bright colorblocking? I guess I needed something to lighten the mood after an intense weekend of weddings and taxes. Yes, taxes. The BHW and I didn't finish ours until about 11 AM this morning, mainly due to a little disorganization and my having misplaced my W2. Ah well, all's well that ends well. Miraculously, we only ended up owing about $720, which is a piddling amount compared to some years.
Anyway, I am finding that the two fan fringe necklaces I bought really go with a lot of my stuff. I loved this outfit even if it is, um, bright.

This is what I wore to my niece's wedding today. It was a lovely ceremony, even though the weather was actually pretty brisk. Luckily, everything was indoors, so all was good. I did have an ivory jacket with this.

Friday, April 12, 2013

Today I went with a very easy casual look --what else are casual Fridays for? I just threw on my very dark wash jodphur jeans with this Tresco Floral Shirt and a fan fringe necklace. Lots of bling for very little effort.

Wow. Can I say love? I loved this striped shirt with this skirt. The fit on this shirt is very flattering on me, and it looked so cute with the tweed. I got a ton of compliments on this outfit. I had worn the fan fringe necklaces quite a bit, so I went with this simple green one I picked up on eBay recently -- I toned down the bright green with simple navy tights and shoes. This looked especially smashing with my navy trenchcoat for the walk to and from school.

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

Today was one of those long days that seems like it is going to last forever. I was at school from 7:30 to about 5:00 PM, so I needed something comfortable. I went with jeans and a cashmere sweater and scarf. I added this cute animal velveteen jacket for the trip to school, but frankly, even just the sweater was almost too hot in the classroom, even though it was chilly today.

Tuesday, April 9, 2013

Today I wore this vintage J. Crew Stripe Tee for the first time. I picked it up for $3, and I think that is about what it is worth. Unfortunately, it is bateau style, which means that it is too wide for me to comfortably wear at school. I addressed the problem by wearing a pink striped tank under the shirt - you can see it peeking out at the top. This outfit felt like it went well together -- especially with the olive military jacket.

Monday, April 8, 2013

I didn't blog outfits for the weekend because I got a massive migraine on Friday that lingered around until, well, actually, through today. Hormonally related, I'm afraid, and getting worse every month. Argh...
Anyway, I went with a matching tank and sweater today, along with my trusty pink jeans. The weather today was nasty, so I added this blingy jacket as a topper. I figure I might as well get a wear or two out of it.

Thursday, April 4, 2013

Today I went with a simple pencil skirt paired with my new liberty print shirt. I added my $4 J. Crew imitation bubble necklace. I actually took a few of the baubles off this, and I like it better not so big.

Wednesday, April 3, 2013

I hadn't worn this black and white colorblock jacket since last year, and I figured with black and white being hot colors for spring, now was a good time to pull it out while the weather is still jacket-able. Unfortunately, even though the weather is jacket-able, my classroom is not, and I was dying of heat (and unable to take the jacket off with a tank under it) by the end of day. Ah well, at least I looked good.
This necklace that I picked up from Francesca's has seen a lot of love from me. It's one of those that goes with lots of things.

Tuesday April 2, 2013

Today I went with blue on blue. I found that this necklace was a good match for this Talbots floral skirt from last summer. I hadn't tried it with light blue, but I actually rather liked how this turned out. I wore my blue suede jacket with this, and it looked pretty good, but I didn't get a picture.

Monday, April 1, 2013

So I have been rather enamored of this luggage colored leather skirt that Talbots put out a few years ago for quite a while. I was pleasantly surprised to find and pick this one up for $32 on eBay. I originally bought this back when I was wearing a size 10, but luckily I returned it. Now I have a size 6 that I can wear for a much better price. (Yes, this is the same skirt as on the two models.)

March Purchases

Hmm...I didn't do as well this month, but I got a lot of fun stuff.

Sunday, March 31, 2013

I wore this simple knit dress today for Easter. This is one of those dresses that doesn't look like much unless it is on -- it's actually very cute and comfortable. Knit Dress in True Pink, Talbots; Jewelry, Talbots.

Saturday, March 30, 2013

I went with a cashmere cardigan and blue jeans for this casual Saturday. We did head over to Amy's for a family Easter gathering.
