October 5 - 11, 2015

This was another busy week. The weather here has been so beautiful that I've just been trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

January 20-24, 2015

Hmmm...after three days I noticed I'd worn green every day this week. Maybe this is my way to fight back against the gray and dreary winter weather we are having?

I was originally only wearing this lace top with this skirt, but it was so cold in the chapel that I had to run home and grab this jacket. This jacket is one that I dyed from beige to green earlier this year. It came out pretty awesome, didn't it? Anyway, today was the Primary program practice which is always insane, but I lived through it.

Today I went with a lace skirt and my linen whale tippi. It was Monday. Enough said.

June 9-13, 2014

Here's another week worth of tees, light sweaters and shorts.
About the two striped shirts -- I know the blue floral one isn't truly DYT 4, but it is fun, and isn't that what summer is all about?
The orange one on the top used to have small white and orange stripes and white lace, but I dyed the whole thing orange. I like it better with the monochrome look.
I got the navy and white shorts (I need new white shorts every year -- I am hard on white) from J. Crew Factory for $17. The red shorts came from Macy's for $14, and the cobalt ones came from Loft for $25. I am set for shorts for the summer. I already had the black ones.

Today I am wearing a hot type 4 pink top. This skirt has all the right type 4 colors in it, but it may be a bit busy for some people's taste. I don't mind busy. I kept it simple with no jewelry other than diamond studs, what with all the eyelet and floral going on. (These shoes were almost a perfect match for the skirt!)

Today I went with this outfit. I was originally planning to wear a lace top, but decided on the stripes instead. I may try the lace top with my yellow pants -- we shall see.

My former backyard neighbor was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. Another neighbor had an open house in her honor tonight so that we could all come and visit with her one last time (she is living in Florida with her daughter now). I wore this very floral outfit in her memory, as she was a fellow gardener and kindred spirit. The item that everyone loved the most were the cute little floral flats I got on eBay.

Today I wore this same look from last Sunday to school except that I changed out the pink heels for pink flats and wore different earrings. Today is the first day of Spring, so something Spring-ish felt appropriate.

Today I went for a little pattern mixing by wearing this lace print tee with my plaid pants. I added the bright red necklace to complement the stripe of red in the plaid of the pants. This was a pretty comfortable outfit, if a bit daring.

Did I hear that today is St. Patrick's Day? Wink wink. Anyway, I'm embracing green here (with a touch of yellow).

I recently picked this skirt up on the cheap at eBay. I really like the combination of the pink with the orange in the eyelet pattern that you can really see in the closeup to the right. Add a little blue, and I am ready to brighten up the world. The world didn't need that much brightening, as it was warm enough to go without tights. It was kind of nice to shave my legs....

Today I didn't work but rather went to the funeral of our wonderful neighbor, Max Lee Pinegar. It was a very good funeral--he was a great man, and I am glad I got to know him. This is what I wore sans belt. I wore flat shoes as I was helping with the luncheon for the family afterwards, so I had to do a lot of running around.

I liked the look of this lace tee so much that I wore it again today with blue. I added a cobalt fan fringe necklace to give it a bit of bling.
Today was an insanely busy day for me. After work I had my night class, and then after that I was on the selection committee for the Central Utah Writing Project's summer institute. I really wanted to attend even though I was exhausted because my daughter was one of the applicants -- I thought I might have to implement some nepotism. Luckily, her application essay spoke for her, and I didn't even have to say a word as she was unanimously approved.

I really am not the world's worst photographer -- somedays it just seems like it. But anyway, despite the blurry photos, I rather like how this outfit turned out. I lucked out in finding this Talbots contrast lace tee for a very good price during the recent red hanger sale. I'm wearing it here with a pink skirt just for fun. (The lace tights and the pink flower kind of put it over the top for girly goodness.) I got a ton of compliments on this look -- it's a keeper.

Today I'm trying yet another look with this new stripe shirt I got for free from Talbots. The thin stripe of persimmon lends this whole shirt a bit of a coral vibe, even though the red is really pretty red. I thought I try it with this skirt and jacket today, and I rather liked how it turned out. Unfortunately, the jacket was a nightmare with this skirt, because the jacket has little hooks and eyes, and they kept catching on the lace in the skirt. Wear and learn!

This is what I wore to our ward adult party in the evening. It looks very dressy but feels very comfy. I love this bling necklace I got sort of originally from Chicos. I say sort of because the bigger one is actually a bracelet that I restrung into a necklace. I added a closeup shot of the bottom on the skirt to show you how cute and lacy it is.
**I like this skirt so much I also wore it last Thursday night to Mark's work party, too.
