Today is the hump day of my week, or the day I have my three hour night class. This is a comfortable but dressy look for that very, very long day.
Velvet Animal Skirt, Talbots; Hue Tights in Brown, Macy's; Crewneck Cashmere Sweater in Heather Pink, Talbots; Jewelry, Designed by Denée.
A note on the shoes: When I originally picked these up on eBay, they were very uncomfortable across the top of my foot. Now that I've worn them a lot (and stretched them using a blow dryer and big socks), they are very comfortable. Sadly (but probably for the better for my overall foot health), I think my days of wearing stylish 3-inch heels are officially over. These clock in at a very wearable 1-inch.

Today I am copying the color scheme from this cute post on Economy of Style. She has such cute outfit ideas and her hair is to die for.
I didn't want to wear a skirt today, so I went with pink jeans. Pink and blue look great together, I think, and I really like the soft blue in with the bright colors.

This made for a nice church outfit. I changed out of the skirt into jeans at home for our family celebration of son #3's 19th birthday.

This is not actually what I wore to work. I wore an orange cashmere sweater and scarf to work -- but I had an unfortunate accident with a rather heavily iced cupcake, so a quick change was in order for my Valentine evening date with the BHW. We went to the Salty Dinner Theater's production of Cinderella. It was great fun, and the ugly stepsisters were -- ugly. I went very simple with my accessories, just adding these little earrings from Harry Mason, an earlier gift from the BHW.

I'm pretty sure I've seen some light wash jeans around lately... I rather like the fit of this pair, so I thought I'd start a new trend. I guess the new trend also includes wearing a blingy little lizard.

A while back a fellow fashion blogger mentioned that she was taking this jacket with her on her trip to Miami. It looked awfully cute, so I browsed on over to eBay. Lo and behold, there it was for a mere $20 shipped. It seemed like such a great deal. There was this little disclaimer saying "Please note that I am not sensative (sic) to cigarette scent - I do not believe that this item has a cigarette scent, but if this is an issue w/ you - please do not bid on this item." This should have been a huge red flag, but I was too giddy over the price to think straight, I guess. Anyway, when I opened the package the smell just about knocked me off my feet.
To make a long story short, I washed it. In the washing machine (hand wash cycle). Twice. And amazingly enough, after a bit of touch up ironing, it looked every bit as good as new and smelled about 100 times better. So here I am, wearing it today with the Pastiche skirt and a Fresh Mint ruffle tee from Talbots. And just to make it even more fun, I kept up with my animal bracelet moment and added this elephant bracelet from J. Crew.

Although I love this shirt, this wasn't exactly the most inspired outfit ever. Some days just aren't that way, I guess. I did love the addition of the blingy little flower pin necklace I made last year.

No, I didn't skip out on church. What I did do was wear this same outfit I'm wearing to work today, only with higher heels. I'm wearing this outfit in homage to one that J's Everyday Fashion posted a few days ago. Unfortunately, I can't wear bare legs just yet -- it's far too cold -- so I went with tights that match the skirt.
The necklace you see here was one of those impulse vacation buys. I picked it up at the Utah Shakespearian Festival a few years ago, and I have wore it and the matching bracelet to death since then -- it just goes with everything.

Last year sometime I purchased several blingy little animal bracelets for about $5 each. I put them in a drawer and, um, sort of forgot about them. I'm trying to wear them more often.
Today I'm wearing my first and last merino Tippi in Retro Jade from J. Crew. I've only worn this Tippi twice. It was a pill-y mess after the first wearing, and I've only recently taken a sweater comb to it. Of course, it was a pill-y mess after this wearing, too. Ah, well.
I did love my new houndstooth pants with my houndstooth-top flats. The pants are actually camel and black, but they give off a very brown vibe. This is also what I wore to take in The Lego Movie with the family. Which movie we all absolutely loved, by the way.

Sometimes an item is just a workhorse in my wardrobe. This floral skirt from Talbots (via eBay for only $18), has been that for me. It goes with so many things, and I just love the blue with green big cabbage flower/grandma couch pattern -- I just can't help myself. Today I tried it with a bright blue ruffle tee and a bright lime jacket to shake things up. I even added my cutesy little animal bracelets, just for fun.

I liked the look of this lace tee so much that I wore it again today with blue. I added a cobalt fan fringe necklace to give it a bit of bling.
Today was an insanely busy day for me. After work I had my night class, and then after that I was on the selection committee for the Central Utah Writing Project's summer institute. I really wanted to attend even though I was exhausted because my daughter was one of the applicants -- I thought I might have to implement some nepotism. Luckily, her application essay spoke for her, and I didn't even have to say a word as she was unanimously approved.

I went my entire teaching career at UCAS never wearing jeans on a non-Friday weekday, so what gives? Well, the work vibe here at the junior high is a lot more casual, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Plus, these jeans are just so comfortable, it's hard to not put them on sometimes. I added a plaid ruffle top that I picked up for free at the infamous red hanger sale at Talbots.

Today I thought I'd try this botanical paisley shirt with some brilliant blue. This was a very comfortable outfit for a Monday -- I always feel a little casual on Monday -- it seems like such an uphill climb to the weekend. I added a closeup of the botanical print -- this is what it really looks like to the right.

I really am not the world's worst photographer -- somedays it just seems like it. But anyway, despite the blurry photos, I rather like how this outfit turned out. I lucked out in finding this Talbots contrast lace tee for a very good price during the recent red hanger sale. I'm wearing it here with a pink skirt just for fun. (The lace tights and the pink flower kind of put it over the top for girly goodness.) I got a ton of compliments on this look -- it's a keeper.
