I've been in love with this skirt since I saw this photo on a different blog. It's pretty versatile, as it can go with beige, green, pink, black, etc. Today I went with a green v-neck summer weight sweater that I picked up at the end of last summer. With the addition of this blingy Talbots necklace via eBay, this outfit was pretty va-voomy.

I purposefully purchased this soft pink button-down to wear with this Tuileries Skirt, and it did not disappoint. What really made the outfit though was the Talbots daisy necklace and earrings--this is a real statement piece that looks so cute with all my floral skirts. I'm so glad I picked it up when it went on super sale recently. Of course, what really caught my students' attention were the styling pink shoes--one of my students said it was like something the Wicked Witch of the West would wear--only pink--so another student said, yes, Mrs. Tyler is Glenda the Good Witch. Ha.
I'm so glad I took the time to alter this skirt earlier in the summer--it is a really different look. I did such a good job on the alteration that it doesn't need a belt--the waistband fits me perfectly.

This was one of the first outfits I ever posted. I wore this again today, but I went with some pearls rather than the turquoise jewelry.

This is my first chance to wear this striped skirt since I altered it. I do love this skirt!! I was going to wear it with the flame linen cardigan below, but then I tried it with this kelly green baby cable cardigan, and I decided this was the look of the day. I wore this with a Chicos super sale howlite necklace that I've had forever; it actually looked pretty good with this look of the day.
As far as the previously mentioned linen cardi goes, I'm not sure whether or not I'm going to keep it. It just didn't make my heart beat faster, and I kind of need that to happen. I tend to like V-neck cardigans a little more these days--they don't look as sloppy unbuttoned, IMHO.

I'm not 100% sure why I look so pained in this picture -- it may be the plantar fasciitis that has been plaguing me all weekend. Anyway, today I went with a navy button-down and and this paisley skirt.

I decided to go really casual this Friday with a simple stripe button-up and some stretch jeans. Part of my motivation was the Socratic Seminar I was planning on having out in the grass outside the classroom -- there's just no graceful way to sit on the grass in a pencil skirt. Because today was so casual, I decided to add this cute little blingy guy above to my attire. My students loved him.

So, I've had this inspiration photo around for quite a while, but I never really found a good cardigan to try it with. After picking up this rose quartz cardigan for next to nothing, I tried it today with a silk top. Unfortunately, I got makeup on the silk top before I even got out of the house. :^( Anyway, I did like the look together.

Today felt like the kind of day to wear a bright shirt. So, I went with this favorite Chicos travelers top. The only sad thing about this top is that it has pilled terribly on the side where I usually hold my bag/purse. Oh well, live and learn.

Let me start with the disclaimer that this is not the best picture of me. There. Now that that's out of the way, I enjoyed this mix of blue, white and orange with stripes and florals. (The stripe skirt is very subtle--it's hard to see.) This week I am going for pattern mixing.
To pull it off, you need things from the same color scheme. So, here I am with a JCrew striped tee, the caribbean tweed skirt from JCrew, and the surf floral cardigan from Talbots. It's hard to tell from this picture, but there is a pretty prominent thread in the tweed that's the same color blue as the stripe tee and the cardigan. I love blue and green together, so this was a win for me, anyway. There are about a million different designs for this skirt on Polyvore, so I decided pretty much anything could go. Hee hee.

I've been on the hunt for this daisy lace skirt in ecru (pictured on a model below) for a long time. I kept seeing them in different colors, but I decided to hold out for the ecru. After about six month's worth of stalking, I recently found a size 12 one on eBay for a pretty good price ($26, shipped). Even though it was way too big, I snapped it up and planned to alter it. This turned out to be the easiest alteration I've done so far, and I wore it today to church with my new platform peep toes, a turquoise blouse, and my new daisy jewelry from Talbots. I got a ton of compliments on this look. I love the way the lining, which is substantial and darker than the lace so the lace really pops out, ends before the lace does, making the last two rows of lace really stand out and look cute.

This is a new shirt that I got last month but hadn't worn yet. I love the feel, the pattern, and the 3/4 sleeves. This looked great even without a belt with these red skinnies. Another thing I like about it is that you don't have to wear a tank under it--it is just enough coverage to get away with. Today I wore this bright outfit inspired by this photo to the left. I ended up getting this jacket for $21, so I decided to bite on it. Overall, I thought this was a good look for me.

Could you get any bright than this outfit? I guess my goal for the week was to dress as colorfully as I can. I got several of these 3/4 sleeve button-downs at Talbots recently, and they are a great addition to my wardrobe choices.

Today seemed like a great day to break out the monochromatic blues, with a splash of Pambil (that's the necklace). I really love this necklace I got at Chicos earlier this summer. It gives a lot of bling for next to no weight. And, it supports little ladies in the Andes, too.

Today was the first day of school for me, so I decided to go with this favorite outfit. I wore it just like this, except I used a green belt that matched the green in the shirt instead of the gold belt. It was a fun outfit for the first day!!

Sunday, August 5, 2012

Okay, I'll admit. I've been a bad fashion blogger. Mainly it's because I've been so busy, secondly it's because I don't work in the summer, so I don't dress up as often, and lastly it's because I've been thinking about whether my fashionista side has gone beyond fun to addiction. So...I have set a goal to only purchase either $50 worth of items or one new item a month. For August, I've purchased two things: this J. Crew Style Bubble Necklace for $12.00 and this Ralph Lauren Chambray Shirt for $32.00. I got a great deal on both on them, but even more importantly, they fit holes in my wardrobe rather than just giving me the thrill of buying. I'm also trying to shop my closet, so here I am with a newly altered triomphe jacquard pencil skirt, the chambray shirt and bubble necklace, and my ever beloved yellow pointy toed shoes.
