Today seemed like a good day to wear this caribbean tweed skirt again. It's not a skirt that plays well with tights due to the cotton lining, so it was a good choice for a 68 degree day. I tried it with this Talbots top on a whim, and I really liked the look together. My hair, on the other hand, looks like hair looks when you are fresh out of the shower and scrambling to get to an early morning meeting.

Today I went with the J. Crew Factory Bright Spearmint skirt and my Ralph Lauren Chambray shirt. I added the Fan Fringe Necklace I picked up on eBay for let us just say, less than 1/2 of what J. Crew is asking for theirs. Supposedly it is an authentic J. Crew version, and I couldn't tell any difference between this one and the one that cost $140.

I must admit that my daughter didn't like this outfit. She said it was too busy. I tried to tell her that I was emulating the outfit to the left, but she was not a fan. Anyway, I liked how this turned out. I've been searching for this shirt for ages, and it finally popped up on eBay in my size brand new for $14. Of course I had to jump right on it. I added some blingy necklaces in the colors of the skirt to brighten it up after donning the black wool jacket. This made for a good transitional outfit -- the weather is so changeable right now!!!

As I was looking through my inspiration files the other day, I stumbled on this picture on the right from J's Everyday Fashion that I'd clipped some time ago. I immediately planned to copy the outfit exactly -- right down to the leopard shoes and belt, but today's weather was a little too chilly to consider going without tights. I decided to go with the gray leopard accessories instead. I thought this outfit turned out rather well. I've always loved fuchsia with cobalt blue -- I wore this combination in college quite often -- and I think the addition of the gray cools it down just the right amount.

This is what I wore to my niece's bridal shower. I liked the look of the stripe on stripe.

Friday, March 22, 1013

Today seemed like a good day to try this outfit. I've been wanting to try a brooch with a button-up for a while, and this seemed like a good one to start with. I actually really liked how this outfit turned out.

(Now, if I'd been wearing some styling shoes, it really would have made the outfit. I'm a teacher, though, on my feet all day, and I have to keep things real.)

I love purple and green together. They remind me of crocuses blooming in the spring. Today's outfit is a shout out to crocus's everywhere.
I teach high school, so the last thing I need is to worry about bending over. This shirt has that problem, which was easily fixed by adding a purple tank. I added the purple blazer and scarf for the trip to work and running around after work.

Wednesday, March 20, 2013

I began this day with a migraine, so I ended up at home with a sick day. I did have to run a quick errand in the afternoon, so I went with this stripe colorblock shirt.
I did not notice when I bought this that it was dry clean only. I do not believe in dry cleaning -- the chemical smell makes me sick, so of course, I just washed it in my front loader using Woolite and the hand wash cycle. It came out absolutely fine, making me wonder why in the world it was marked as dry clean only? Hmm....
I also discovered that this pambil necklace was a great match for this top, and I am discovering that a light tank under boatnecks makes them wearable for me. I have very narrow shoulders, so most boatnecks are too wide and show my bra.

One Last Blast at J. Crew

Yes, I always say that. Anyway, here is what I got in the mail from the recent 30% off sale price sale.

Fan Fringe Necklace in Vibrant Fuschia. I think I can get this for around $80 if I wait a bit. This is definitely something I'll look for at a better price.

Side Seam Sailor Shirt in Black/Ivory. I really liked the pink one, but this one is a little too hamburglery for my tastes. This one is going back.

Perfect Shirt in June's Meadow Print. This looks like a printed chambray, and I think it will look very nice with white, denim, navy, yellow, red, and I'll probably wear it with green, too. This one I am keeping.

I've had my eye on this St. James Galathee Tee for quite a while, so when it got down below $40 with the discount, I jumped on it. This was final sale, but luckily, I find that I rather like it.

Finally, the butterfly silk shirt. Hmm . . . I'm on the fence with this one. If it was cotton, I'd be all over it. Silk tends to bunch up and look not so tailored on me. What do you think? (If J. Crew offered petites, I would like it much more. I can't really leave this untucked because it is sooo long on me.)

I also got the fan necklace in the other color-way (sunwashed aqua), and I liked it quite a bit better than the vibrant fuchsia one. I might consider it at about 1/2 price.

Other things that will go back this week:
Liberty Toothpick Jeans in June's Meadow -- I did not like the look overall, and I could not think of where I would wear them -- definitely not at work.
Medallion Paisley Scarf -- IRL it is not nearly as vibrant as it looks online. It would have to really be a knockout for me to keep it, as I have an awful lot of scarves already.
Linen Stripe Boy Shirt -- I like the perfect fit better, and I am a little leery of the ironing I might be getting into with that one.

UPDATE:
It's a thumbs down on the silk blouse. I think I can find something I will like better.

Tuesday, March 19, 2013

I am going all vintage Talbots here. The top and the bottom are from several years ago, and the jacket is from last summer. This made a very nice airy look for a beautiful spring day.

Today I decided to pattern mix with the striped shirt I just got and the sunshine peonies skirt. I really liked the way these two went together. I added a fair amount of bling with my Ily Couture Bubble Necklace and some more arm candy at $6 a pop.

Sunday, March 17, 2013

Today seemed like a good day to break out the Easter egg colors. I went with this bright spearmint skirt from the J. Crew Factory, a silk paisley shirt that I'd almost forgotten was in my closet, and to keep the Spring chill away, a bright yellow jacket. This made for a very cheerful outfit overall. I added a fair amount of bling with this zebra bracelet I just got at Kohl's for $6. I went without tights today, but it was still really a little too chilly for that to be comfortable -- much warmer than it has been, though.

I'm still on break today, but I wore this to make a quick errand run. The weather is so beautiful today that I didn't even really need the jacket.

Thursday, March 14, 2013

I got a package from J. Crew today, but this is the only thing I guess I'll keep. This is the Side-Seam Sailor Top in Paris Pink. I like it quite a bit. I'm trying it with my crystal flower necklace that I just got from Kohl's for $13.

Yes, I'm wearing the green jeans again, because I'm trying to break them in a little. The material starts out very stiff. Why am I trying to break in jeans that I've had for months? Well, because I recently washed the first pair, and they shrank two whole inches! I only paid 18 dollars for them, but still...grrr...

Monday, March 11, 2013

We are on spring break this week, so my dressing will be very casual. Here I am with green jeans, a purple cashmere sweater, and a scarf that pulls it all together.

A Little eBay - Pencil Sharpening

I love the colors blue and green - kind of a sea glass look, and Pantone predicts that these will be popular colors this summer. I have the sweater that matches this skirt, so I decided to pull the trigger on this.

Saturday, March 9, 2013

Today is Saturday and the beginning of a week of spring break for me. As usual, the main purpose of the outfit is to keep warm.

This is my last day of teaching for a week so I went with comfortable. This cashmere sweater and jeans fit the bill nicely.

Today I went with the stripe floral tee from J. Crew paired with a mustard skirt and a denim jacket. This was a toned down blue and yellow from yesterday!

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

I got this Margaret
Annie Liberty Shirt in the mail yesterday, and I immediately wore it with blue and yellow just to lighten up the world.
As you can see
from the fabric swatch, it's got a multitude of blues, pink, corals, yellow, and greens. Someone online had mentioned that it ran toward mustard, but to me it has more of an overall blue tint rather than yellow--it's not yellow at all compared to the tresco floral.

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Today was one of those days where you just feel glad to be alive at the end of it. I had to be at my school at 8:00 AM to supervise a session of the ACT test, which was intense; then we had parent teacher conference. I got home at 7:00 PM. What a day!!
My fashion choices were limited by the school's request that we wear "school attire" to the conference. I went with this cardigan sweater and a fun button-up and jewelry. This was a MUCH more casual look than what I usually wear, but it was at the request of the administration so...there you have it.

(Because we have people from size 0 to size 3X on our staff, we are very limited in our work wear choices. This is what we get.)

Monday, March 4, 2013

Today I went with this floral skirt and cashmere sweater, topped with a Chanel-type jacket. I wore my flower stone bib necklace with this. That last time I wore the necklace, it broke, but I was able to fix it.

Sunday, March 3, 2013

I wore this suit to church at our ward and then again to Gif's baby blessing at his ward.
There is a lady in our ward who is, ahem, blunt. When she saw my red tights, she said, "My, I admire how you always add color to everything. I've been afraid to wear colored tights ever since my brother-in-law called them passion-killers." Hmm... What an interesting comment. I was tempted to say that if I ever got to the point where I was taking fashion advice from one of my brother-in-laws, I'd be sure to think of her, but I held my tongue. Ha!
