Utah Valley in the winter time is a very dreary place. We basically live in a bowl, which gets filled with what we call "inversion" and other people might call "smog." Because of that, I can't take these shots in natural light, and unfortunately, I use compact fluorescents in the hall where I take these -- so my colors and lighting are not so hot.
I was really on the fence about whether or not to keep this mustard sweater, but I decided that for eleven dollars, I would. The problem is that this color and my face don't really look that great right up next to each other. So, i'm wearing a scarf that matches the pink in the skirt as a buffer. I am loving the mustard tights with this skirt!!!

I didn't have to go to work today because of MLK day, but I did go to the movie, Life of Pi, with the family. This and a wool coat kept me warm in the rather cold movie theater.

eBay Strikes Again

I had a nine dollar eBay credit expiring on Feb. 2nd -- well, I couldn't just throw away nine dollars, could I? So, I decided to bite on this cute little item:

With the credit, this shirt came to just ten dollars.
The big mystery was what exactly it would look like. There were three pictures of it on eBay, and each one looked very different. Well, Saturday it came in the mail, and the mystery was solved:
The actual color is the one on the right. Because this is a "haberdashery" item, it has beautiful finishing details, including covered matching buttons.
I feel like I got a pretty good deal for ten dollars, and this just rounds out my spending for the month. I stuck to my budget of less than $100!

I'm embracing the stripes here. I just felt like being a little wild (to match my hair, mayhap?). This is one of the very few things that I've ordered from J. Crew lately that I've actually kept. I guess I've come late to the J. Crew party, and I feel like I got here after all the cake and balloons. I've found some vintage skirts on ebay which I love, but most of their new things are . . .  hmmm . . . blegh. The quality is questionable and the styling is so-so -- very blocky for me so far. The only thing that I really love that they have are the liberty print shirts, and I live too far away from a store to get them at really good sale prices, and the VPS service never works for me.

Today I wore my liberty indian red shirt, blue pants and this fringed jacket. I was wearing this jacket one last time to try and feel the love, but after one of my students made a funny comment about the jacket, I knew it had to go. Someone somewhere is going to love this jacket, so I have listed it on eBay.
