I had a few extra little things that I let the BHW give me as Christmas gifts, but overall I am doing pretty good on sticking to my guns. Next year I am going down to $50 a month. Can I do it? We shall see.

Edit: Actually, I am going to give myself $100 every three months and see if I can do that.

Normally I wouldn't go out on the day after Christmas, but my niece was here from AZ, and so I (and my DDs) needed to go to a baby shower for her. The roads were pretty good even though we had a huge snow dump yesterday, so it wasn't so bad. This was a little edgy for a baby shower, but, hey, with my blue streak, I feel like I can be edgy anytime I want!

Today was a very relaxed Christmas -- with no little kids around to wake us up we didn't get up until 8:30. Everyone got something fun, and then we spent the next part of the day enjoying time together as a family. I even got a nap, nobody complained too much about not having our traditional bacon (the BHW and I have gone vegan/vegetarian; the kids are reluctantly on board), the BHW got to play a lot of board games, and peace and love abounded. This cute plaid shirt made for the perfect Christmas day shirt. To make things even more fun, the BHW wore his sort of matching shirt -- we were a matched set!

Today is the Christmas program at church, and I am singing in the choir. Usually I wear red, but this year I've been rather enamored of blue, so I decided to go blue instead. Blue is a Christmas color, right? I love how the diamanté buttons look peeking out of the 3/4 sleeves of this jacket--love the blue boots--love the fringe net scarf--just love the whole outfit together. I'll probably change into black jeans for the family Christmas party this evening.

Today was a special session of stake conference. I sang in the choir, so I tried to dress it up a bit. This tribal skirt from Anthropologie always makes me feel cheerful, so I went with it today. I added a classic black jacket from Talbots that always makes me feel like a million dollars.

Hmmm....It feels like I've been wearing a puffer vest every day. I don't leave them on all the time -- it's much too hot to wear them at school, actually. With the weather so unseasonably warm, they just seem like the perfect layer right now. I added this cute plaid one* over a purple corduroy shirt from Talbots that I've had and loved for some time.

The important thing to remember about the Pantone colors is that some of them are going to look better in interior design than they are going to look on people. This is one color of the year that won't get any love from me, as I know it won't look good on me. Too much brown. Does this excite any of you?

So, I have had this Talbots scarf for a long time after picking it up cheap on eBay. I loved the colors, but I could never think of a good way to wear it as it had a kind of stiff texture to it. I finally just tied it into a necklace per some instructions on the internet and wore it that way. I really liked how this came out.

November 2014 Purchases

I haven't been all that excited about the jewel sweatshirt trend, but for $15, I bit at Costco. I love the teacup sweater, and I got the buffalo check shirt for a very good price because something I had ordered previously didn't work out, so J.Crew let me select any shirt for the same price. I haven't got it yet, so it may or may not stay with me.

I really have a lot to be thankful for this year
-- my shoulder is doing really well, I'm almost through with the TELL endorsement, I have a fantastic aide at school, I love my job 95% of the time, I have a wonderful, caring husband, and of course, I have four irreplaceable children who I love very much.

I'm going very casual here. I'm not sure how long the puffer will stay on -- I keep our house very cool, but with 22 people here, it could get pretty hot pretty fast.

This is what I wore today, except that instead of a plain mint tee, I wore my Talbots V-Neck Ruffled Tee in Mint (the same style but in a lovely mint color rather than the green color in the picture up above). This top looks so cute with the cashmere cardigan over it buttoned up just to where the ruffle starts! This cardigan is probably not really DYT 4, but I love how it looks like a Monet painting, and I wasn't about to give it up. I added a lot of silver pearl jewelry to add to the overall icy effect.
Yeah! I have a very long weekend coming up, and I plan to take full advantage of it.

Now don't get me wrong. I love my job, especially my students. But...this is a two day work week, and it's already half over!! Woot!!
Anyway, I recently pinned the outfit shown here, and I knew I wanted to copy it. I don't have a cardigan exactly like hers, but I do have this lovely ikat cardigan from Talbots that filled in nicely. I really liked the continuity of navy on the top and bottom and yellow in the middle. I didn't go for the red belt today, but I did wear a bright red cashmere scarf with my navy trench for the trip to school (in the snow). Does that count?

This is what I wore to church today and to the LDS Family Fellowship meeting in the evening. These cobalt boots used to be oily brown, but I painted them cobalt blue (because now that I've got rid of all my brown things, I have nothing to wear them with). I rather like how they turned out. This sweater is the gray merino wool one with the rhinestone neckline that I tried to dye cobalt blue. Instead it came out a rather heathered blue. It went well with the blue of the raj paisley.
